Tegaki Tutorial by Jiayi Tegaki Tutorial by Jiayi
Uhh....whipped up a quick tutorial because I felt like it. >D

For those of you unfamiliar with tegaki, it's much like an oekaki, mixed with blogging. (It's a blog that you draw out!) The canvas you work with only has one layer too.

TegakiE: [link]
Tegakie IS SO ADDICTING, I have warned you. :3

The community is friendly and very supporting of your fandoms. :'D You can save only 1 picture at a time though. TegakiE has some lag periods too.

Although, there are much more colours on TegakiE then Tegaki Japan. (And I used to think TegakiE had a really small palette of colours... :'D) And the brush is much smoother and less like a pencil brush on MSpaint.

Japanese Tegaki: [link]
It has much more features than the english tegaki: [link] The fact that you can save (more than 1 pciture) your work and edit it later is the biggest and most useful though. (Plus you can customize your profile! Joy!)

However, the community is weak (if you're looking for funny comments, RPs, etc) this is not the place. (They are very friendly though, they just don't comment much) Also, you'll lose confidence in your art LOL. xD

However, it's great if you want to brush up on your Japanese, learn some new techniques and challenge yourself with their 16 colour palette and 10 undos, this is the place to go! :D

Umm...I doubt anyone needs a tegaki tutorial very much, but I wanted to make one because I love tegaki haha.

This was also made in like 20mins, so there's a lotta stuff i didn't cover. If you have any questions please ask!

PS: I'll post the Raichu separately demaaaain. :3

[EDIT] Oh! I forgot to add, you can line your drawing after you're done if you dislike lineless pictures. (it's funny, in tegaki, lineart is the last thing you do opposed to the first. xD)

start a new entry, and it should be there at the bottom of the page below the canvas. (At least if I remember correctly, that's how you do it)

Oh lord, I tried using my usual Photoshop coloring technique there, and it ended up horrendous.
I can't do anything without layers. :XD:

But damn, you're really good at this stuff. I really need to read this thing. :noes:
Nice work, and I love that Raichu~ :la:

try changing your tablet options (especially if you're using anything higher than Windows XP) I think it was the "double click" option or something like that but I forget. You might have to play around a bit. ^^;

Highly inspirational! I'm just figuring out this Tegaki thing... it's sooooo different from the Oekaki applets that I'm used to. No layers? No layers? T_T

...yes, yes, damn, that's a fantastic Raichu.

xD Very useful tutorial.
I have a question about the JP Tegaki though. It seems it just added something that allows transparency and more colors. I don't how they do it or if there is some button you have to click to get to it. xD

I don't currently use Tegaki but this tutorial applies equally well to any layer-less paint tool, such as Facebook Graffiti, MS Paint, etc. Good offering. Plus, I got to see a Raichu. That's always a plus. =3

Actually there are way more colours on JTegaki than TegakiE. There's some technical details you need to do with the computer and I'm not sure how, the tutorial was in Japanese. But it's possible.

Oh yes I know! You blend the colours together since they overlap each other and are a bit transparent at the edges. But that method is REALLY time consuming and I didn't understand it until after I wrote this xD

Depends on the user, everyone has different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to choosing an art program.

The only way is to try it yourself! ^^
